Upcoming Meetings.
All upcoming meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of the month at Haines House of Cards and begin at 7pm, unless otherwise noted. A complimentary snack during the break has been reinstated!
- Friday, March 12 - Photo Night & Stage Platform Magic
We will focus on Photography for Magicians. We will also have Magician of the Month.
Photo Shoot. Need some new publicity photos? Just want some professional photographs of you with your favorite props, or some "candid" shots of you astounding spectators with your best miracles? At the meeting, professional photographer Rob Myers will be available to take publicity photos of any members interested. We have negotiated a special rate with Rob, so members can receive 10 minute photographic sessions for only $15.00. During each member's session (or sessions if you would like more time), you can have as many photographs taken as you wish. Rob will then digitally enhance each photo, to make sure everyone looks their best, and at the April meeting each member will receive his or her photographs on a CD-Rom computer disc with all of their photos in sizes and formats suitable for use on computers or the internet. In addition to the CD-ROM, members may order full-color, high resolution prints, or other photographic and design services from Rob (such as business cards and web site design) on an individual basis. If you plan on having your photo take, please contact Sean Owens no later than Tuesday March 9.
Be sure to bring any props, costumes or special backgrounds with which you would like to be photographed. At least one single-color background, one table, and some standard props will be available for use during the shoot.
Famous Photos. Also at the meeting, dozens of publicity photos and related publicity materials from famous magicians will be available for viewing from the archives of the Salon de Magie. This will be a rare chance to see many never-before-seen publicity photos of greats such as Cardini, Blackstone, and Thurston. Take inspiration from the photos before having your own publicity photos taken, and you could be the next Houdini!
MoM Theme. Magician of the Month contest theme will be "Stage/Platform Magic". There are two requirements to the effect: 1) it must be from the Tarbell Course in Magic or Greater Magic and 2) it cannot be a card trick.
